Selenokhod Rover Mockup at TsUP     Sunday, October 11th was a great day. ISS Expedition 20 (commander Gennady Padalka, flight engineer Michael Barratt and spaceflight participant Guy Laliberte) successfully landed the Soyuz TMA-14 return capsule on the steppes of Kazakhstan early in the morning (Moscow time).
Selenokhod team received an invitation from the Russian space agency, and we had a marvelous opportunity to witness the landing from the Mission Control Center (TsUP) in Korolev City!
After the landing, a press conference was held with the official committee which supervised the landing. The members of the committee were Roscosmos deputy head Valeriy Davydov, RSC «Energia» chief Vitaliy Lopota, Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (GCTC) chief Sergey Krikalev, etc. The special guest of the committee this time was Lori Garver, NASA Deputy Administrator.
Our rover was an unusual ‘guest’ at this event. We were glad to bring our project to the attention of the media, and prominent experts of the Russian space industry as well. We were asked a lot of questions about the Selenokhod project. This is very encouraging – private and “traditional” space in Russia seem to be following the same path now!
